House of Light
Reimagining a 1970s Foundation with Bold Design and Elevated Living.
Reimagining a 1970s Foundation with Bold Design and Elevated Living.
Transforming a Classic Foundation into a Modern Masterpiece.
This home was established as only the second modern home in the famous Atlanta Country Club. The entire form of the home is based off of the existing 1970’s ranch foundation. This foundation provided a significant size and perfect conditions on an otherwise difficult hillside lot. Defying gravity, Jeffrey designed and built a pool 25 feet in the air, positioning it right outside the main living level, instead of away from the home down the hill. Other design details to be noted are the intentional dropping of the ceiling in areas between the vaulted spaces to 7’-8” to emphasize compression and grandeur within the architecture’s flow, the open beam stair with recessed bolts inspired by the stitching details found in fine menswear, and the end-grain mosaic wood floors that run throughout the home.
