Post Classical
A Modern Exploration of Classical Aesthetics.
A Modern Exploration of Classical Aesthetics.
This home renovation reimagines a dark, outdated 1990s design into a refined blend of contemporary and traditional elements.
The original structure felt closed off due to obstructive beams, but the transformation introduced clean, simple forms that create openness and flow. Tall copper doors and a seamless neolith porcelain façade now define the entry, extending over the roof and down the rear of the home for a bold, modern statement.
The updated exterior, with carefully selected roofing and siding, enhances the home’s clean lines, giving it a fresh, modern feel while respecting its original simplicity. These thoughtful changes breathe new life into the design, shifting it from a dated 1990s aesthetic to a sophisticated, postmodern exterior.
Inside, the design balances the homeowner’s love of tradition with the home’s modern architectural language. A key element is the use of reclaimed beams from a 19th-century warehouse owned by the homeowner’s father—milled into flooring to create a meaningful connection to the past. This blend of history and innovation defines the interior’s “postclassical” style, where timeless details meet contemporary sophistication.
The kitchen serves as the heart of the home, featuring matte grey nanotech cabinetry inlaid with bronze and a striking bronze island that adds both beauty and durability. In the master bathroom, a spa-like retreat comes to life with luxurious neolith walls and mirrored cabinetry that enhance the sense of light and space.
What was once a fragmented, outdated home is now a seamless blend of modern design, traditional craftsmanship, and luxury materials. This renovation is more than a transformation—it is a reflection of timeless sophistication, designed for both beauty and function.
