Traditional Redefined

In this residence, we preserved its classic character while introducing custom details, an open floor plan, and thoughtfully chosen materials to create a space that is both elegant and inviting.

To create a more open, cohesive feel, traditional doorways were replaced with wide openings, allowing the ceilings to flow at a consistent height. However, to keep the space from feeling too open, custom architectural screens help define distinct areas. One striking example is a mosaic leather tile feature wall, made from shagreen and suede tiles in deep purple and gray, which visually interrupts the main living spaces.

Thoughtfully crafted materials are a key part of the design. The kitchen features a cast glass bar and a stainless-steel hood that combines polished and matte finishes. A cubist-inspired fireplace spans an entire wall, cleverly hiding storage for firewood, art, and technology. The wine display showcases bottles on glass slats in a V-formation, set against an antique mirror and framed by linear lights. In the dining room, bold modern wallpaper contrasts with classic furniture, preserving a connection to the home’s original traditional interior.

The transformation extends beyond the interiors, embracing indoor-outdoor living. Movable glass walls open to a private walled garden, creating a peaceful urban retreat. While modern elements define the design, the home retains its timeless luxury, seamlessly integrating traditional furnishings.
